Church of San Miguel de Osmo Monument · Cenlle, Ribeiro, Ourense Romanesque church heavily altered during the Renaissance, situated beneath an oak grove (carballeira) in Osmo, presiding over one of the wine-growing parishes of Cenlle; possibly privately founded by the Count of Ribadavia, it owes its present appearance to 18th-century renovations. Of the Romanesque core only three geometric corbels remain on the south wall. The Renaissance doorway, with human heads, an angel and two shields of the Ribadavia family, is topped by a two-tier bell-gable. Inside it preserves an interesting set of Mannerist paintings, rare in the rural churches of the area: the Predela de San Miguel, eight oil panels from the first quarter of the 17th century, on the altar of San Francisco. Its fabric sums up the constructive history of the churches of the Ribeiro, medieval in origin and refurbished in the early modern period. Photo: AlmaGz (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Cenlle
