Mount of San Trocado Nature · San Amaro, Carballiño, Ourense Monte de San Trocado, 550 metres high, rises on the right bank of the river Miño, and its summit, shared between the municipalities of Punxín and San Amaro, is crowned by a chapel whose inscription dates its construction to 1739, although it is thought it may have been built over an earlier structure; it holds a stone carving of the saint, whose feast day is celebrated on 15 May, and beneath it are preserved the remains of a castro, notable for its wall, which served as a lookout over the land routes and navigation of the Miño. From the summit can be seen the serra da Martiñá to the north and the coto de Novelle to the south, dominating a large part of the Carballiño district and the river valley.
