Romanesque from the late 12th century, the Igrexa de San Tomé de Maside Vello is the oldest of the municipality's nine parishes and a particularly notable example of austere rural Romanesque, a style repeated in the later churches of Garabás, Santa Comba do Trevoedo and Santa María de Louredo, already from the 13th century.
