Penacova Curiosity · Bóveda, Terra de Lemos, Lugo Penacova is a small rural settlement in the parish of Remesar, in the Lugo municipality of Bóveda, in the comarca of Terra de Lemos, close to the boundary with Paradela. It lies at 460 metres above sea level, at the foot of Mount Remesar and beside the riego da Ribeira, and in 2022 had only 5 inhabitants. It preserves, clustered together, an old forge, a mill and a fountain of iron-rich water, a small catalogue of the popular architecture of inland Lugo gathered within a few hundred metres. The forge has documentary references dating back to 1780 and is well preserved, with the forge itself, the trip hammer, the bellows and the hydraulic machinery working thanks to its restoration; beside it, on the same site, stands the Penacova mill, also well preserved.
