Museum of o Pazo de Mariñán Monument · Bergondo, Coruña, A Coruña An 18th-century manor house at Mariñán, in the municipality of Bergondo, on the banks of the Mandeo river and near Betanzos and Pontedeume, declared a historic-artistic site in 1972. It originated in a defensive structure raised in the 15th century by Gómez Pérez das Mariñas, and passed down from generation to generation until, when its last owner died without descendants in 1936, it was bequeathed to the Diputación of A Coruña; for this reason it was also known as the Pazo de Láncara. The building, with Baroque features, and its French garden — with specimens catalogued as árbores senlleiras de Galicia (Galicia's notable trees), including an érbedo and a nogueira pecán — overlook the ría de Betanzos. It houses a picture gallery of 19th- and 20th-century paintings, many of them Galician, and rooms with 19th-century furniture, also famous for its rear staircase.
