The monastery of San Nicolao de Cis Monument · Oza-Cesuras, Betanzos, A Coruña Image of Oza-Cesuras, not of the place itself. A monastic community documented from the late 9th or early 10th century, also known as the monastery of Cines or San Salvador de Cis, of which the church and part of the outbuildings survive; it was declared a Monumento Nacional (a former top-level Spanish heritage protection designation) in 1981. It is the most significant monumental complex in a concello of twenty-five parishes. It arose as a double monastery and in the 15th century became a priory dependent on San Martiño Pinario, in Santiago; of the original Mozarabic temple only a capital and a canzorro survive, and the present church, from the second half of the 14th century, is one of the few Gothic examples among Galician monasteries, related to the Betanzos churches of Santa María do Azougue and Santiago. It has a basilical plan with three naves and three polygonal apses. Photo: Luis naveira (Public domain) What to see and do in Oza-Cesuras
