Praia Grande of Miño Nature · Miño, Betanzos, A Coruña The praia Grande de Miño is the main beach on the ría de Betanzos, nearly a kilometre long, sheltered at the head of the estuary and with mild waters; it is linked to the town by the paseo de la Alameda and encloses marshes into which the Baxoi river flows at one end, with a small pine-covered hill at the centre of the beach. Alongside it run the beaches da Ribeira and da Alameda, forming a continuous stretch of coastline that turned this small municipality in the Mariñas area into a summer destination from the early 20th century. It has held a blue flag since 1984 - though it lost it in 2016 for lack of qualified lifeguards - and in 2012 and 2013 it was voted Spain's best beach by readers of the newspaper 20 minutos.
