La Jara cacereña y Valdelacasa de Tajo Historical milestone · Valdelacasa de Tajo, Villuercas-Ibores-Jara, Cáceres The lands of the La Jara comarca, at the eastern edge of the province of Cáceres, were, from the Reconquest onward, dependent on the alfoz (administrative district) of the Toledan town of Talavera de la Reina. In 1249 Fernando III el Santo granted Talavera the Dehesa del Pedroso for grazing by its residents, which spurred the repopulation and founding of its settlements; from 1369 these lands became a lordship of the archbishops of Toledo by grant of Enrique II. It was not until 1833, with the new provincial division, that Valdelacasa de Tajo and the rest of the villages of La Jara in Cáceres ceased to depend on Talavera and became part of the province of Cáceres. 1249 (donación de la Dehesa del Pedroso); 1369 (señorío arzobispal de Toledo); 1833 (incorporación a la provincia de Cáceres) Photo: 19Tarrestnom65 (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Valdelacasa de Tajo
