La lápida visigoda de Herguijuela
Curiosity
The place name Herguijuela appears to derive from the Latin term "ecclesia" (church). A white marble Visigothic gravestone has been preserved here, bearing the funerary inscription of Gunthoerta, "handmaid of God", who lived thirty-five years and "rested in peace" on April 28 of the year 618, testimony to the Christian presence in the comarca in the Visigothic period.
Francisco Becerra
Historical milestone

Antigua Villa de la Calzada

The village was known as Villa de la Calzada until 1800, when it adopted the name Herguijuela.
