Castillo de Villalba de los Barros

Castle rebuilt in the late 14th century on an earlier Arab fortification. The church of Nuestra Señora de la Purificación has a single nave with star vaulting; 2.5 km away, next to the Guadajira, stands the convent of Montevirgen, founded in 1568.
Convento de Montevirgen
Monument
Franciscan monastery located 2.5 km from Villalba de los Barros, next to the Guadajira river, with a rectangular nave, a vaulted chapel and a cloister with twelve pillars. The original hermitage became a monastery in 1568; local tradition tells that the image of the Virgin repeatedly disappeared from Zafra and returned to this spot, a sign interpreted as divine will to build the sanctuary here.
