Hermitage of la Virgen del Rosario

The hermitage of the Virgen del Rosario of El Palomar (La Vall d'Albaida), and the calvary erected beside it on the ruins of an earlier medieval hermitage, form an ensemble of rural Valencian architecture of simple appearance: a single nave divided into three bays articulated by pillars. The present building, from the 19th century, did not always have a religious use: in its early years it served as the meeting hall of the town council and as the village's first school. Today it is surrounded by a landscaped area and forms part, together with the calvary, of the Stations of the Cross of the municipality.
