The poet Ausiàs March was in the 15th century lord of Beniarjó, Pardines and Vernissa, where he administered lands and irrigation channels for three decades. Royal falconer to Alfonso the Magnanimous, he wrote here much of the poems that renewed lyric poetry in the Catalan language.
