Festivities of San Miguel de Bellreguard

Patronal festival of Bellreguard in honour of Saint Michael, celebrated on 22 and 23 September with the traditional Ball de la Forca, a stick dance performed exclusively by men and the only dance of its kind documented in the comarca of La Safor. The dancers wear a white linen shirt, wide morisco-cut breeches, white socks with coloured garters, black-ribboned espadrilles, a waistcoat and a silk kerchief, and carry three- or five-pronged forks, seven in the case of the dance's director. The festivities also include Moors and Christians re-enactments and the participation of comparsas of drapets or pedacets.
