Castle of Montroi Monument · Montroi/Montroy, La Ribera Alta, Valencia An old fortress ceded to the Hospitallers in 1279, situated in the centre of the so-called Vall d'Alcalà; of its original buildings only the keep survives. Of Muslim origin, from the 13th century, the tower is 12 metres high, is built of rammed earth and consists of two storeys with windows and an upper terrace. It formed part of an old castle of which only the tower and some wall remains survive today; its state of preservation is poor, almost in ruins, despite several attempts at renovation and restoration over time. 1279 Photo: Carquinyol from Badalona, Catalunya (CC BY-SA 2.0) What to see and do in Montroi/Montroy
