Church of San Antonio Abad de Alginet Monument · Alginet, La Ribera Alta, Valencia The parish church of San Antonio Abad stands on the plaza del País Valenciano in Alginet and is considered a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection), although without ministerial listing. It was built between 1654 and 1699 from the remains of an earlier 14th-century parish, dated by different authors to around 1330 or 1375, while the bell tower and the Chapel of the Communion were added in the 18th century. The three-naved temple has, in the central nave, a crossing topped by a dome of Valencian-style Arab brick; the interior, with rococo ornamentation, contrasts with the plainness of the façade. Beside the church stands a tower of square plan. 1654-1699 Photo: Vicenç Salvador Torres Guerola (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Alginet
