River of els Sants Nature · Alcúdia de Crespins (l'), La Costera, Valencia Image of Alcúdia de Crespins (l'), not of the place itself. The riu dels Sants is a watercourse that rises at the karstic spring of the Font dels Sants, at the spot known as el Naixement, 165 metres above sea level, one of the main outlets of the carbonate platform of the Caroig massif. It crosses l'Alcúdia de Crespins and Canals, in the comarca of La Costera, and flows into the left bank of the río Cañoles, after six kilometres through a valley cut into tufaceous rock. Today it is practically dry for most of the year, although in certain periods it is drawn off through wells for irrigating the traditional market gardens. It was formerly called río de Sant Julià; its present name comes from a hermitage dedicated to the Sants de la Pedra, patrons of farmers, destroyed by the earthquake of 1748.
