Source of the Río de los Santos Nature · Alcúdia de Crespins (l'), La Costera, Valencia Headwater spring of the río de los Santos, a tributary of the Cáñoles, which emerges at the karstic resurgence of the Fuente de los Santos, in the area known as el Nacimiento, at 165 metres above sea level, one of the main natural outlets of the Macizo del Caroche. From there it runs for about 6 kilometres through a valley cut into tufaceous rock, crossing Alcúdia de Crespins and Canals before flowing into the Cáñoles; although today it remains almost dry for most of the year, except when tapped through wells to irrigate the traditional market gardens, its natural flow would be around 1000 litres per second, very regular as it is a karstic spring. The botanist Cavanilles already described it as «la más copiosa [fuente] del reino». Photo: Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA) What to see and do in Alcúdia de Crespins (l')
