The Morisco resistance of the Muela de Cortes

When the expulsion of 1609 was decreed, part of the Moriscos of Millares refused to embark and took refuge on the Muela de Cortes, where they resisted the royal troops until they were defeated. The villa was resettled with families from Aragon, Navarre and the Basque Country.
