Hermitage of la Mare de Déu de la Salut de Xirivella

A hermitage built in 1604 in Xirivella to mark the place where, according to tradition, the image of the Mare de Déu de la Salut was found, hidden beneath a bell buried in an olive grove; the finding is placed towards the end of the 16th century or the beginning of the 17th. The parish church that houses it, in the centre of the town, has become one of the identifying symbols of Xirivella, whose devotion has been kept from parents to children for more than four centuries despite the losses suffered by the parish archive, including the looting and fire of 1936. Festivities are held in its honour every 8 September. It is protected as an asset of local interest.
