Séquia de Favara Historical milestone · Quart de Poblet, L'Horta Sud, Valencia Image of Quart de Poblet, not of the place itself. The séquia de Favara is one of the eight historic irrigation channels of l'Horta de València under the jurisdiction of the Tribunal de las Aguas, of Muslim origin predating the Christian conquest of 1238; a written mention of it already dates from 1094. It rises in the río Turia, in the municipal area of Quart de Poblet, and irrigates the orchards and fields on the right bank of the old riverbed as far as the séquia de Rovella and the rice fields of the Albufera. Its course was seriously altered by the works of the Plan Sur, which divided the irrigated land between north and south of the new riverbed; the historic weir of the Repartiment, today vanished beneath the rubble of the old riverbed, was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) on 7 October 2004. siglo XIII Photo: Millars (CC BY-SA 3.0 es) What to see and do in Quart de Poblet
