Church of Santa Bárbara de Beniparrell Monument · Beniparrell, L'Horta Sud, Valencia The parish church of Saint Barbara of Beniparrell, a heritage asset of local significance, dates in its present fabric from the 18th century, although its origin goes back to 1600, when the Carmelite Order received, under an emphyteutic lease, from the Baron of Beniparrell, Lluís Escrivà, sixteen fanecadas of land and the old ermita of Saint Barbara to found a monastery of the old Carmelite observance, established in April 1603 by the prior Miguel Alfonso de Carranza; the village of Beniparrell itself grew up around it. The suppression of the monastery came on August 13, 1835, under Prior Miguel López. The bell tower, from the late 19th century, preserves three bells and a smaller signal bell; the most important, the second, dates from the 18th century and has been welded and restored.
