Casa de la Llotgeta - Palmito Museum of Aldaia Curiosity · Aldaia, L'Horta Sud, Valencia Museum of the Palmito of Aldaia (MUPA), housed in the Casa de la Llotgeta, a building dating from between the 16th and 17th centuries located at the crossing of Iglesia and Mayor streets. It was originally a manor house of the counts of Nules, an example of Valencian Renaissance architecture, with rammed-earth load-bearing walls and an interior courtyard formed by two main wings and a perpendicular one. Its most distinctive feature is the loggia —hence the name Llotgeta— with twelve round brick arches without columns, now enclosed with a metal and glass structure. Half-ruined, it was acquired and restored by the town council with an investment of more than a million and a half euros, and opened as a museum dedicated to the traditional weaving of the palmito on 17 December 2010.
