Serra Calderona Natural Park Nature · Olocau, El Camp de Túria, Valencia The Sierra Calderona natural park extends between the provinces of Castellón and Valencia, on the foothills of the Iberian System, between the basins of the Palancia and Turia rivers. This 18,019-hectare area was declared a natural park on 15 January 2002, and owing to its closeness to Valencia, some 20 kilometres away, it is regarded as the city's main green lung. It covers the territory of seventeen municipalities, among them Olocau, where pine forests and cork oak groves predominate. The relief, mostly below 1,000 metres, reaches its highest point at Montemayor, at 1,015 metres; el Gorgo, at 907 metres, is another of its peaks and is accessible from Gátova and Olocau. The area experiences frequent electrical storms, the main cause of its forest fires. Photo: Sincrosergio (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Olocau
