Manorial tower of Benavites Monument · Benavites, El Camp de Morvedre, Valencia Image of Benavites, not of the place itself. Tower of Benavites, a testimony to the municipality's seigneurial past, in a landscape of orange groves and towers of Islamic origin. It is a quadrangular tower from the 13th or 14th century, about 25 metres high, located next to what was the palace of the marquis of Bélgida. Several Roman and Hebrew tombstones are preserved in it, and it is listed as a Monumento Nacional (a former Spanish heritage-protection designation). The counts of Almenara and Cocentaina ordered the construction of the so-called Torre de la Señoría in the 15th century, when Benavites once again became a lordship.
