Gateway to the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park from Alfondeguilla, one of the 19 municipalities that make up this protected area since 29 September 1998 and which covers 31,180 hectares. On the reddish sandstones of the Buntsandstein grows the largest cork-oak grove (Quercus suber) in the Comunitat Valenciana, together with stands of Pinus pinaster, formations that give this side of the mountains its forested character.
