Hermitage of la Barona

Chapel of the rural district of la Barona, three kilometres from the village of Vall d'Alba, in the Plana Alta comarca. The hermitage already existed as a chapel in 1688, was expanded over time, and its current structure dates mainly from a 1959 renovation, with further extensions in 1921 and 1976. Inside, an 18th-century painting is preserved showing the Virgin seated with the Child in her arms and angels. It is catalogued as Bien de Relevancia Local (local-level heritage protection designation) by the Generalitat Valenciana. The festivities of la Barona, coinciding with the feast of the Virgen de los Ángeles, are celebrated around 2 August.
