Ramsar wetland of the Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca Curiosity · Torreblanca, La Plana Alta, Castellón The Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca is a narrow strip of marshes and wetlands formed by quaternary deposits on the Orpesa-Torreblanca plain, between the municipalities of Torreblanca and Cabanes, in the comarca of La Plana Alta, bounded by the Sant Miquel and Xinxilla rivers. Declared a natural site in 1988 and a natural park in 1994, it is included on the Ramsar List of Wetlands, being one of the least altered wetland habitats in the Comunitat Valenciana. It is a former lagoon closed off by a coastal bar of gravel and pebbles with stretches of sandy beach, filled in by alluvial sediments; its sheet of water, permanent in some points and seasonal in others, depends on the water table and local springs.
