Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca Nature · Cabanes, La Plana Alta, Castellón A protected natural area occupying a narrow strip of wetlands and marshes formed by Quaternary deposits, located in La Plana Alta and shared between the municipalities of Cabanes and Torreblanca, bounded by the Sant Miquel and Xinxilla rivers. Separated from the sea by a bar of gravel and pebbles with some sandy beach areas, it retains a body of water that is permanent in some spots and seasonal in others, fed mainly by the water table. Declared a natural site in 1988 and a natural park in 1994, over an area of 865 hectares, it has great scenic value and is home to numerous species of waterfowl. It is reached via the N-340, at the Ribera de Cabanes turn-off, or via the AP-7 at Oropesa del Mar. Photo: Juan Emilio Prades Bel (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Cabanes
