Parish Church of Nuestra Señora del Pilar of Tírig Monument · Tírig, L'Alt Maestrat, Castellón 17th-century church located on the village square of Tírig, built on the same site as an earlier, smaller church of which only the lower part of the present bell tower survives. Its patron, Saint James, is the same as that of the previous church, as recorded in the 1769 pastoral visitation. The tower bears a sundial with the signs of the zodiac and was restored in 2002, taking advantage of the transfer to Germany of two of its three bells, Quiteria and Pilar, for repair; the third, Europa, occupies the highest position. Inside, 18th-century wall paintings are preserved, and the old church once held the tombs of local families such as the Alcàsser, the Rodes and the Tosques.
