The Vila Closa is the oldest historic core of Atzeneta del Maestrat, in the Castellón district of l'Alt Maestrat, surrounded by the Verdunc, la Font and Rambla de Atzeneta gorges, which shaped its original defensive layout. In some stretches of its urban plan it retains an important medieval and Renaissance heritage, with remains of the old medieval walls and the Torre de la Presó, vestiges of the precinct's fortified character.
