The slope of the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park that extends over the municipality of Chóvar, in the Alto Palancia comarca, is characterised by heather, juniper and cork oak vegetation, favoured by easterly winds that bring high humidity and relative coolness. The relief here reaches some of the highest points in the park, with peaks such as Hembrar (859 m), Puntal del Aljibe (948 m) and Bellota peak (959 m), in sharp contrast with the town of Chóvar, at only 415 metres above sea level. Chóvar is one of the municipalities entirely included within the park.
