Ruins of the Castle of Toga Monument · Toga, El Alto Mijares, Castellón Image of Toga, not of the place itself. The castle stands in the lower part of the town, next to the bed of the river Mijares, and its location reflects the strategic importance of the site, situated downstream from the narrow gorge of Toga, an imposing defile of the river. Of irregular plan, it went over time from being a military structure to becoming a seigneurial castle-palace. Today it survives in a rather precarious state, although some stretches of its outer defensive structure can still be admired.
