Church of San Vicente Ferrer de San Vicente de Piedrahíta

Monument · Cortes de Arenoso, El Alto Mijares, Castellón

The church of San Vicente Ferrer, in the hamlet of San Vicente de Piedrahíta, in the municipality of Cortes de Arenoso, was built from an earlier hermitage erected in the first half of the 17th century, enlarged and converted into a church in the last third of the 18th century as the population grew; the presbytery and transept were blessed on 27 April 1778, and the nave and chapels on 27 November 1781. Between 1795 and 1796 the altarpieces of San Vicente, San Miguel and the Virgen del Remedio were made, the work of Christobal Maurat, along with those of San Antonio and San Leandro. The decorative work, with mural paintings and gilding, was completed in 1802. It is listed as a Bien de Relevancia Local (a local-level heritage protection listing in the Comunitat Valenciana).
