The admiral Bernat de Sarrià, a trusted man of Jaume II, gathered at the beginning of the fourteenth century the seigneuries of the comarca and granted cartas pueblas to several towns, among them the one that bears his surname. On his death without issue the patrimony reverted to the Crown.
