Selva de Irati Nature · Ochagavía/Otsagabia, Pirineo, Navarra Image of Ochagavía/Otsagabia, not of the place itself. Ochagavía is, together with Orbaizeta, one of the main gateways to the Selva de Irati, a beech-and-fir forest of 17,179 hectares straddling Navarre and the French Béarn, the second-largest forest of this type in Europe after Germany's Black Forest. In 2017, UNESCO inscribed as World Heritage, within the transnational property "Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe," three specific reserves of the Selva de Irati: Lizardoia, Mendilatz (in Orbaizeta), and Tristuibartea, not the entire forest. Within it rises the Pico de Orhi, at 2,021 m. 2017 Photo: Theklan (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Ochagavía/Otsagabia
