Ochagavía/Otsagabia Village · Ochagavía/Otsagabia, Pirineo, Navarra Ochagavía/Otsagabia, in the heart of the Salazar valley, was razed in 1794 by troops in the war against the French Convention: 182 houses, 52 mountain huts, and the hermitage of San Martín burned down. The village was rebuilt with tile roofs replacing the wooden ones, and today it preserves stone houses with very steep roofs that have earned it fame as one of the most charming villages in the Navarrese Pyrenees. It has 492 inhabitants (INE 2025). 1794 Photo: Josu Goñi Etxabe (Public domain) What to see and do in Ochagavía/Otsagabia
