Navascués/Nabaskoze
Village
Navascués/Nabaskoze, in a non-Basque-speaking area of the Merindad de Sangüesa, 62 km from Pamplona, is a municipality of three councils: Aspurz, Navascués, and Ustés. King Sancho the Wise granted it fueros (charters) in 1185, confirmed and extended in 1354 and 1417. The place-name refers to "naba," a word designating a plain or hollow next to mountains.
