What to see and do in Erro

Erro
Village
The valley of Erro, with 812 inhabitants (INE 2025) spread across 144.28 km² of the Navarrese Pyrenees, is formed by nine councils -Aincioa, Cilveti, Erro, Esnoz, Espinal, Linzoáin, Mezquíriz, Olóndriz, and Viscarret-Guerendiáin- crossed by the French Camino de Santiago on its descent from Roncesvalles toward Pamplona. King Teobaldo I granted it fueros (charters) in 1248. It shares ownership of Mount Alduide/Quinto Real with Baztán, 70% for Erro and 30% for Baztán.
Iturissa, la ciudad vascona del valle de Erro
Historical milestone
In 2012, the site of Iturissa was located between the councils of Espinal and Burguete, a Vasconic city mentioned by classical geographers alongside the Roman road that linked Astorga and Bordeaux through the Summus Pyrenaeus. At Ibañeta, in the same valley, a votive altar and other Roman objects from the 1st century have also been found.
