Burgui/Burgi

Burgui/Burgi sits at the southern entrance to the Roncal valley, near the confluence of the Biniés river with the Esca. Its border position gave it military importance in the Middle Ages, with a castle, now vanished, whose memory is preserved by the hermitage built on its former site. Local tradition, without linguistic support, derives the name from the initials of the valley's villages.
