La donación de Pedro Ciga

The Spanish-American returnee Pedro Ciga bought the Bertiz estate on 20 October 1900 for 650,000 pesetas and, together with his wife Dorotea Fernández, restored the palace and its gardens. In 1949 he donated the estate to the Diputación Foral de Navarra on condition that it be preserved and used exclusively for recreational, educational and scientific purposes.
