Tower of el Homenaje de Villarejo de Salvanés Monument · Villarejo de Salvanés, Las Vegas, Madrid Image of Villarejo de Salvanés, not of the place itself. Prismatic tower some twenty-two metres high reinforced with eight cylindrical turrets, the only part of the castle of Villarejo still standing; it was raised by the Order of Santiago, which made the town the head of its Greater Commandery of Castile, and it dominates a built-up area declared a historic ensemble in 1974, the precinct having been a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) since 1992.
