Church of San Cristóbal Mártir de Torrejón de la Calzada Monument · Torrejón de la Calzada, Comarca Sur, Madrid The oldest building in the village, already mentioned in a 1427 visitation record of the archbishopric of Toledo: it was built over a medieval structure, grew between the 16th and 18th centuries and had to be rebuilt after the bombing it suffered during the Civil War at the hands of the rebel side. It is under the patronage of San Cristóbal Mártir, although the town's patron saint is San Sebastián. Juan Ortega Rubio already described it in 1921 in his Historia de Madrid y de los pueblos de su provincia. Photo: Dirección General de Turismo. Consejería de Economía e Innovación Tecnológica.
