Church of San Juan Evangelista

An archpriest church built from the sixteenth century onward on the plaza Mayor of Torrejón de Ardoz, the municipality's main religious building, whose patron saint is precisely San Juan Evangelista; it began as a smaller structure with two naves and two chapels, which a major renovation around 1784 enlarged into the basilical plan with three naves and a dome that it has today. It holds a 1675 canvas by Claudio Coello, one of the great painters of the Madrid Baroque, depicting the martyrdom of its patron saint.
