Palace of el Infante don Luis Monument · Boadilla del Monte, Área Metropolitana, Madrid The Palace of Infante Don Luis stands in the town centre of Boadilla del Monte, in the west of the Community of Madrid. It was built between 1763 and 1765 by Ventura Rodríguez for Luis Antonio de Borbón y Farnesio, the youngest son of Philip V and brother of Charles III, lord of Boadilla from 1761. It was his main residence until 1776, when the infante moved to Arenas de San Pedro following his marriage to María Teresa de Vallabriga; among his guests was the musician Luigi Boccherini. It later passed to the Dukes of Sueca, suffered the looting of its art collection during the Civil War and served as barracks, hospital and boarding school. Declared a National Monument in 1974 and expropriated in 1998, it is today municipal property, with gardens of more than seven hectares.
