National Museum of Science and Technology of Alcobendas Monument · Alcobendas, Área Metropolitana, Madrid The National Museum of Science and Technology (MUNCYT) is a state museum network devoted to the popularisation of science, under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. Its collection brings together more than fifteen thousand scientific instruments, from the sixteenth century to the present day. The idea of creating it arose in the mid-twentieth century, although it was not formally established until 1980, and it opened its doors for the first time in 1997. It has two sites: the one in La Coruña, from 2012, and the one in Alcobendas, opened on 12 December 2014 in the building designed by Roberto and Esteve Terradas for CosmoCaixa Madrid, until 2013, where it displays more than five hundred pieces from a state collection that exceeds eighteen thousand scientific objects.
