Hermitage of la Pobla de Massaluca Monument · la Pobla de Massaluca, Terra Alta, Tarragona The hermitage of Berrús, linked to La Pobla de Massaluca in the comarca of the Terra Alta, is a rectangular-plan temple covered by a slab-roofed gable roof, supported by seven pointed diaphragm arches and topped by a slender bell-gable. Its history goes back to the 9th-10th centuries, when Berrús suffered a plague epidemic that decimated its population, and the survivors moved to the nearby villages. In the 20th century, when a reservoir was built, the company Enher dismantled the hermitage stone by stone and moved it to a higher spot to keep it from being submerged. Every year, on the second weekend after Easter, a well-attended pilgrimage arrives there, with residents from La Pobla de Massaluca, Ribarroja de Ebro, Fayón and Villalba de los Arcos.
