La Fatarella Winter Main Festival Activity · la Fatarella, Terra Alta, Tarragona Image of la Fatarella, not of the place itself. The Festes Majors d'Hivern de Sant Blai de la Fatarella are a traditional religious celebration of the village of la Fatarella, in the Terra Alta, in honour of Sant Blai, moved from 3 February to the first Saturday of the month to make it easier for the village's sons and daughters to attend. On Friday afternoon a cercavila with a music band announces the start of the festivities, and candles are blessed before Mass. The next day, at dawn, the Cant de l'Aurora goes through the streets, followed by the Rosari de l'Aurora; around midday the Majorals carry the tortades to the church of Sant Andreu to offer them to Sant Blai, and in the afternoon the three dansades of the jota de la Fatarella are danced in the Plaza Mayor. The festa dels Quintos and the festa de Santa Àgueda complete the programme. Photo: Viquipèdia / Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA) What to see and do in la Fatarella
