Hermitage of la Fatarella

La Fatarella preserves several hermitages: that of Sant Francesc, with a pilgrimage of more than three hundred years' tradition on the first Saturday after Easter; that of Sant Bertomeu de les Camposines; and the chapel-viewpoint of the Mare de Déu de la Misericòrdia, built on the site believed to have held a Muslim watchtower — of which no trace remains — and from whose Arabic name the village's own place name may derive. From there, known as the viewpoint of the Terra Alta, a wide panorama can be seen over the territory that watchtower once controlled.
