La Pobla de Mafumet Main Festival Activity · la Pobla de Mafumet, Tarragonès, Tarragona Image of la Pobla de Mafumet, not of the place itself. The Festa Major (patron saint festival) of la Pobla de Mafumet is celebrated on 2 February, the feast day of Our Lady of Lledó, whose title recalls the hackberry tree (lledoner) that appears on the municipality's coat of arms; the Agnus Dei on the same coat of arms represents Saint John the Baptist, patron of the town. The festivities are experienced in a municipality transformed since the mid-1970s by the start-up of the refinery that consolidated the petrochemical complex of the Camp de Tarragona, the largest in southern Europe, and which replaced much of the traditional crops of vines, olives, cereal and hazelnut with industry.
