Castle of Perafort Monument · els Pallaresos, Tarragonès, Tarragona The remains of the castle of Perafort, also called castellot dels Pallaresos or castell de Bofarull, lie on the boundary between els Pallaresos and Perafort, in the Tarragonès. Of late medieval origin and today in ruins, the visible walls date from approximately the 16th century, although the precinct may go back to the 12th century. It had a square plan of more than 500 square metres, with a central parade ground, a defence tower to the south and buttresses on the western side; remains of three wells survive, though nothing remains of the main body. In 1391 King John I sold his rights to the archbishop of Tarragona, and in 1467 it also passed into archiepiscopal hands. Photo: Amadalvarez (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in els Pallaresos
